The Filipino Environment Values

Earth is one of God’s gifts to us. It is a gift that no one could ever replicate. This earth is composed of water, land, air, rock and many more. As what we know component of earth is simply what we call environment. When God created each component God said “It is good”. This means perfect.

Our experience as an individual is matchless. My experience as a finalist in a competition “UNILAB Ideas Positive 2012” help and change me a lot. Through this competition I was able to tell other people what I experience during our seminars, hands on, and implication of our project. As part of my experience I was challenge to protect, love and take care of the environment which lent only by God. I was able to experience things that are unusual to me. I made a new circle of friends, although our statuses in life are large difference. My new friends help me to lower and humble myself. We hug each other, sometimes we play, but most of the time we teach each other. Through teaching, I was able to speak and tell them how important is the environment and its role.  And through action I was able to execute our vision and as well as to execute the mandate of the government of the Philippines – R.A 9003 which talk about Ecological Solid Waste Management handle by DENR (www.denr.gov.ph/).

It’s almost anniversary of our team since the day we engage in the competition. We realized that there are things that cause effects on the environment. By that we found out that a positive change is not in the attitude of the people. It’s in the mind set. As we all know attitude is based on who they are and who we are to them. It is truly hard to change the attitude of the people but if we help people to gain positive knowledge, positive change also occurs. And to start this positive change it must start from us- our own SELF.

In conclusion, environment is important. We read and hear many things about protecting and saving the environment. The reason why environment is important is simply the environment itself is the earth which is our HOME. It is where we live, breathe, we eat; raise as a kid and in the future raise a family. Memorable experience, moments and challenge are happening on earth. Our entire life happens on earth. That’s why people must support, love and appreciate earth. It is lent by our God Jesus Christ who died on the cross. If we love Jesus, we must also love the environment. If we love the environment, we also love our self.
